Traditional Latin Mass Videos Videos of the traditional Latin Mass can be a source of
consolation and inspiration for those prevented by time and distance from
regular attendance at the old EWTN Archived of
Televised Extraordinary Form Masses Beginning
with the transcendent Mass of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross on 9/14/2007
when the implementation of Summorum
Pontificum was celebrated with EWTN's first solemn High Mass televised
worldwide, including an electric sermon
by Fr. Calvin Goodwin FSSP on the ethos of the traditional Latin Mass and the
implications of Pope Benedict's motu
proprio calling for "a reconciliation at the heart of the
Church", in its liturgy. Most of these Masses are not still online, but
DVD's can be purchased from the EWTN
catalogue. The First Mass of Fr. James Fryar, FSSP This twin DVD package of Summi et Aeterni Sacerdoti (Fr. Fryar's First Solemn
High Mass) provides both the solemn high Mass itself, recorded in sumptuous
color with glorious music (orchestra and choir, Gregorian chant and sacred
polyphony), and a disk of additional material
including the entire Mass as seen through the eyes of a
newly ordained priest -- with commentary offering his reflections and
thoughts as he celebrated his first Mass. Fr. Fryar's description of
the relationship between the celebrant offering the Holy Sacrifice in persona Christi, and the Eternal
High Priest Himself, is unique and inspiring. Click

with Gregorian Chant Perhaps the most polished presentation of the traditional
Latin Mass available on videotape -- with a DVD version now available also --
a live solemn high Mass as celebrated by the Priestly
Fraternity of Saint Peter, captured by an award-winning professional
team that used a 4-camera shoot with 12-track sound recording. Interviews and
commentary with FSSP priests are integrated into the film. "This is a complete Mass in real
time with close-ups and camera angles never before presented on film." Pilgrimage: A
Rediscovery of Catholic Tradition A
videotape recorded and crafted by the same professional team that produced
the Tradition video. It provides a memorable re-creation of the
October, 1998 anniversary celebration in Rome of the 10th Anniversary of Ecclesia
Dei and of the Priestly Fraternity of St.
Peter. The video features Pope John Paul II and extensive
remarks about the place and significant of the traditional Mass by Cardinal
Joseph Ratzinger, now Pope Benedict XVI. It includes considerable footage of
solemn Masses celebrated in Rome as well as Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. The Most Beautiful Thing This
Side of Heaven The original aim of this video -- filmed with high
standards in a parish church in Dublin (Ireland) -- was to assist priests who
wish to learn to celebrate the traditional low Mass. It is also useful in
training altar boys to serve at Mass. But there can hardly be a layman whose
faith and devotion to tradition will not be deepened by this color film.
Integrated commentary explains clearly and precisely the rubrics, history,
and ceremony of the Mass, but without intruding on the majesty and mystery of
the traditional rite. This two-DVD set was filmed at St. Francis de Sales
Catholic Church in the Archdiocese of Atlanta, one of the country's few
full-fledged TLM parishes. It provides a wonderful opportunity to experience
and better understand the ancient ritual of both the low Mass and the solemn
high Mass. One disk includes two versions of the low Mass, one without and
one with instructive commentary (especially directed at prospective
celebrants and altar boys) by the celebrant, Fr. Robert Fromageot, FSSP. The
other disk presents the solemn high Mass, complete with Gregorian chant.
Together, these two DVDs highlight wonderfully the beauty and symbolism of
the ancient Tridentine rite. For information regarding purchase of this set,

Seminary of Our Lady of Guadalupe are available from the Priestly Fraternity
of St. Peter, and include the propers for the indicated Masses. Adventus Gregorian Chants for the Four Sundays of Advent In Nativitate Domini Gregorian Chants for the Four Masses of Christmas In Epiphania Domini Gregorian Chants for the Four Sundays of Epiphany In Cena Domini Gregorian Chants for the Vesperal Mass of Maundy
Thursday The last of these contains the complete Holy Thursday
Mass -- including Ordinary, Epistle and Gospel, Preface, Antiphons for the
washing of feet, and Procession to the Altar of repose. |
